RPG News
News are slow, but it is convention season – I imagine a lot of publishers are holding back with their big news for GenCon. That said, a few things did catch my eye in the last two weeks.
- Green Ronin is publishing in the Modern AGE system – they got a deal for the reality of Lazarus. Not personally familiar, but the artwork struck me as interesting. Might have to investigate the world, if not the game.
- Warhammer 40k is going into its 8th iteration. That makes the shelf life of 40k rules about 4 years… not really a lot for a miniature game, IMO.
- Speaking of large edition numbers, the Call of Cthulhu RPG is going into its 7th edition. Go mad, have fun.
- BattleTech news – seems like there is a campaign in the works to cover the closing of the Dark Age… and the Clans’ final conquest of Terra. Rooting for my Wolves here, but I have a sneaking suspicion it will be Hell’s Horses or the Jade Falcons to win that race.
- BattleTech, the second. The Core Rules are in the process of being overhauled and reorganized – mostly reorganized, if the FAQ is to be believed. Given the way things are scattered right now, I hope this leads to a more streamlined book.
