Kickstarters of Note

Hey, guys. I managed to find you all some interesting Kickstarters to look at and think on, for this cycle. We’ve got some maps, some potential gamer-gifts and at least one art book, and a whole lot of temptation.
I’d also like to remind everyone that the Portal will be experiencing a little scheduled downtime tomorrow; just a little maintenance, nothing to worry about.

Ryan Wolfe Presents: V’lar: Starship Maps and Miniatures

For those of you playing with Starfinder, or just looking around for spaceships, maps and or models, this might be worth looking into. The ships are very organic in their design; I might even call them graceful.
The interior maps for them … “The deck plans are provided on both sides of a full color, 24×36 inch poster. They are drawn to a 1 inch equals 5 ft scale and have a subtle 1-inch grid built into the floor. Posters are shipped rolled, not folded.
There are three unique ships included in this project: a cargo ship, a bomber, and a heavy fighter. A single poster holds the complete deck plans for all three ships, but the cargo ship has one deck on the front and one deck on the back (so you may want a pair of posters to display the whole cargo ship at once, or to display both the cargo ship and bomber at the same time).
The posters are made with miniatures in mind and are scaled for use with Starfinder and similar d20 rule systems. The interiors (sleep pods, ladders, toilets, etc.) are scaled to roughly human dimensions so the maps are usable as both adventure settings and potential player property.”

Wyrmwood Gaming Presents: The Wyrmwood Adventurer’s Arsenal

Got someone you want to surprise with a shiny new box for their dice and miniature? Someone who’s hard to shop for? This might be the thing to get them; it is a hardwood set; case and hand-turned pencil, in your choice of hardwoods, with space for a couple of sets of polyhedral dice, or one set and a spread of d6s (not included). They have such lovely things as Purple Heart, Mahogany, Lacewood… beautiful, beautiful things.
As always with Kickstarter, don’t assume it will show up in time; plan ahead
(and if you’re feeling especially fancy, wander over to Artisan Dice and get them a matching set of wood dice). We’re not affiliated with them, I just happen to think they make beautiful dice.

Jake Dluhy Presents: Warscribe – Tabletop Wargaming Campaign Software.

Most of you are probably familiar with tabletop software – Roll20, D20pro, and so on and so forth. Looks like this guy is putting out a version that works with a hex grid. In his words; “Warscribe is a campaign management app for any tabletop war game that supports two or more people. Do you enjoy world building games like Total War, Civilization, or Settlers of Catan? Do you want to create cinematic conflicts not just between armies, but between nations? Warscribe runs campaigns where each player can build an empire, keeping track of gold, vision, armies, and buildings. But growing empires will inevitably clash, and when they do your battles will be fought with the blood, sweat, and tears of miniature soldiers!”
Or, in other words, business as usual, for us gamers. This may be a solution for those of you playing Battletech, or similar games, however.

3dtotal Publishing Presents: Still Just Kidding by Cassanda Calin

Some of you may have seen this wander through facebook; that’s where I first saw Ms. Calin’s work. She draws beautifully, and she has a tendency to be right on point. Occasionally hilariously so.
Go take a look. On offer is her work in deadtree, and a bunch of addons and other goodies planned with stretch goals.
