GM's Tip of the Week

Oofh. So, I was sick, that’s why I have been missing so many posts. Not much of an excuse, but that’s what was going on. The plague has mostly worked its way through Portal Headquarters; and I have a new GM’s Tip for you all.

Going to talk recruiting some more; specifically, recruiting players for games run on Rondak’s Portal. Mostly, you’re doing virtual legwork, instead of literal – talking to your friends, inviting them to check things out, offering them a spot.
But when you run out of friends, or have brought them all in, what then?
Advertising does work; where allowed, post in forums, leave notes in gaming stores or at the library; assuming you have one local to you. If you don’t, there are still things you can do; talk to a CoT member – Sylverthorne is a good bet – about running an ad in the Oracle.
It’s best to have an ad prepared, before doing that; you know your game, what you’re looking for and what you plan to do. If you need help, ask! Having someone else proof-read your work is very helpful, and can help catch typos or other simple errors that the spellchecker missed.
More generally, talk to people. Be active, be involved, be interesting. Interesting is a player-magnet.
