GM's Tip of the Week

Going to keep this one pretty simple, I think.
Problem players aren’t really the guys who have to rules-lawyer everything, or collect all the shinies, or min-max their characters into tiny gods of combat. Those people can be worked with. They can be folded in, included and made welcome, you can even use those tendencies to keep the game on track and fun for everybody. Those kinds of players are not the problem.

Most of us have probably run into somebody at the gaming table – virtual or real – that thinks racist slurs, gay jokes, objectifying women and worse are funny. They make people uncomfortable, they probably make you uncomfortable.
If a warning to modify their behaviour doesn’t put a stop to the jokes, the bashing and the racism, you are entirely within your rights to tell them to leave. You don’t need to give them chances to amend their behaviour if a firm discussion of proper manners doesn’t put an immediate stop to it. You do not need to apologise. You do not need to be tolerant; it is your table. Your game. Your responsibility to everyone else at the table, to not give this kind of horrible behaviour a platform.
I remind you that racist behaviour, misogynist – and misandrist – behaviour, and any kind of homophobic garbage is absolutely not tolerated on Rondak’s Portal. If you get a player in your game who spouts any of that type of crap out of character, who makes players uncomfortable, who makes you uncomfortable, please mention them to the CoT. Any of the CoT. We will be happy to remind them of the rules, and if necessary, we will swing the Hammer of Banning at them.
