Kickstarter Monthly

Hello, fellow Portalites!
Today, we’re bringing you a look at some Kickstarters going by that we found interesting, and that we thought you might find noteworthy.

Some of them are across the great moat, so bear that in mind if you choose to back them yourself.

First off, let’s start with an offering from Monte Cook Games; The Strange Boxed Set!

Did you miss the original The Strange kickstarter and have been kicking yourself for it ever since? Well, Monte Cook Games has decided to do an exclusive, boxed edition, so here’s your chance!

You can even just get the box, if that’s all you want. Man, these guys think ahead.

You can also get the box with contents; all the books you’ll need to run a game, a poster map (double sided!), character creation handout, character sheets, an XP deck, even a signed print and in-box upgrades via stretch goals.

This project is funded, and the company has successfully completed a few kickstarters, so if this interests you, now’s a good time to jump on it.
Next up, we have MapForge, a battle map creation tool intended for tabletop RPGs by Battleground Games.

We personally don’t know anything about this company, but the examples look pretty slick, and provided you don’t need the software yesterday, this could be a nice addition to your GM’s toolbox.

The Kickstarter is very simple, they offer the license flat, and allow a backer to choose from a bunch of addons. Looking at the stretch goals, a backer can choose five addons for free by backing for a basic license; not a bad place to start.

These guys don’t offer any physical rewards, but the software is mentioned to be still in development, so we recommend not taking the delivery dates too seriously.
Next up, we have Dungeon Accessories, by Dungeon Lair.

These guys are making pre-painted resin dungeon props, and they look very nice. I can’t speak for a lot of people, but I like me some dungeon props to dress up a map, and things I can use right out of the box are super handy to have around.

This project has been funded. We don’t know anything about them, other than that they appear to have some nice sculpts and good painters on their payroll.
Finally, we have RPG terrain; wooden furniture made from wood, by Studio 6d6.

I can’t really get over how awesome this looks. If this stuff is even half as good as the pictures imply, your tavern setups will be awesome indeed. Yes, this is tavern furniture; tables, stools, chairs, a bar, bookshelves and beds and.. a piano?!. I think I even see a little desk in the mock-up shot. This stuff is also finished and ready to use right out of the box.

They have some nice bonuses as well; bottles, glasses and some nice looking little ‘books’.

This project has been funded. We don’t know anything about them, but they have done a whole bunch of successful kickstarters already, and, as I say, their mockups look very nice.

We’re ever on the lookout for interesting or useful kickstarters to feature. If you guys should happen to stumble over one, let us know!
