Question of Sevens

The field has always been a little creepy. Peaceful. But creepy. Still… going out there on certain days, or certain times of day is something no one does…

We at Rondak’s Portal would like to wish everyone a sane and happy Memorial Day. Take a moment to remember the fallen, military and civilian alike.

GM’s Tip of the Week

I’ve talked a little about general game creation before, back here¬† but I’m going to go into a little more detail in this post. All of this is in Portal Help, it’s in the Toaster Guides, but more coverage isn’t necessarily a bad thing.

Question of Sevens

As places to find an egg go, under your pillow is one of the odder ones. This particular egg is tiny, and beautiful to look at … but where did it come from? What laid it? Why was it under your pillow, of all the places?!

No real progress on the new code. ${WORK} is killing me. Rondak’s Portal has acquired a Discord server; this should be considered temporary for now – while voice chat is on my feature list for the new codebase, I have not yet decided whether to integrate Discord or opt for another system.

Wudinar’s Adventuring Tips

Words mean things. This may sound trite, but it is something worth remembering regardless. Whether it is the wording of a contract or a Wish, or the instructions given to a summoned creature, words – and the precision in their use – are fundamental. This is doubly true for spellcasters, for who words carry the power to alter reality. But even beyond that, words can offend and soothe, incite a crowd or quell a riot. Words may be merely sound… but words have power.

GM’s Tip of the Week

Oofh. So, I was sick, that’s why I have been missing so many posts. Not much of an excuse, but that’s what was going on. The plague has mostly worked its way through Portal Headquarters; and I have a new GM’s Tip for you all.

Query of Sevens

This is late, I apologise.

It is said that knowledge is power. It is also said that the owner of this book has the power to become anything, to do anything, to go anywhere… it is said that the owner of this book could be a deity, if they wished it.
But no one has seen this book in centuries. It is also said that this book is a myth – is /the/ myth. What if that is not true?

Not much to report, was mostly pulled away to deal with paid ${WORK} this week. Still, I got a little bit of work on the new Portal code done, and squashed a few more bugs in the existing code. Progress. Slow, but progress.

GM’s Tip of the Week

It’s convention season again! That can often louse up your gaming schedule, even if you aren’t running live games. If you are, you have the problem of scheduling your game around the convention.
This can be as simple as skipping, or as complicated and expensive as figuring out a way to have your gaming group meet up at the convention to play there. This latter solution can actually be a handy one, as it opens the possibility of luring in new players, but with the expense of even a day pass and transportation, might be out of reach for many groups.
As a source for new players, gaming related goodies and social interaction, however, a game convention should not be overlooked as a group outing possibility.
