Bug Report: Currently Reported Bugs

To the best of our knowledge, all of the currently reported bugs, including character creation/modification, have been squashed.

Please let us know if you find any strays; there are a few things that used to work that don’t anymore, and we may not have got them all.

Bug Report: Character Creation/Modification

Hello, fellow Portalites.

We are aware of the bug with character creation and modification; it is going to be a longer fix than Andi initially hoped. He is, however, on it.

ETA unknown; but we will keep you in the loop.

Wudinar’s Adventuring Tips

An adventurer needs a home base. This could be just the local town, but sometimes, more specialized things are required. Ritual rooms, equipment for professions and crafts, lodgings for employees, secure storage… al that should be considered. Similarly, physical security of the site is important. You do not want the villain of the day to just waltz in and make off with your prized belongings while you are out…

Question of Sevens

The night sky is full of wonders; a sea of lights sparkling just for you. Shooting stars are nothing new; you have seen dozens. Never one that landed anywhere you could get to, though …

And, we’re back! Mostly.

Hello, fellow Portalites!

Welcome back! The Portal is back up and running, and hopefully, we got all the hiccups. Doesn’t mean there aren’t some we missed, of course.

As always, our collective inboxes are open if you stumble over a bug or an issue. Let us know! We can’t fix it if we don’t know about it.

Portal News – Migration

I hope this isn’t news or a shock at this point – Rondak’s Portal will be down starting Saturday, 2018-01-27 0900 PST, to move back to a professionally hosted data center. This post gives a rough timeline of what is being done.

  • 2018-01-27 1000: Update DNS entries to point to the new server, increase TTL of records back to 1 week

  • 2018-01-27: Once file transfer is complete, load database dump into new database instance

Kickstarters of Note

We go from famine to feast, this week; I have all kinds of shiny things to show you guys, from miniatures to board games to dice, andĀ even a sack to carry it all in! Kickstarter’s a dangerous wilderness of shiny objects, I know.

Remember, folks, downtime this weekend as we move the Portal to its new host!

Unplanned Downtime

Sorry about that, folks; everything should be back up and running normally; those of you on Facebook are probably seeing this twice.

Remember, planned downtime this weekend, for the move to the new server. Hopefully, no more of this kind of hiccup after that.

Wudinar’s Adventuring Tips

I have touched on this by implication, but coordination is an important skill. The sum capability of a group tends to be far larger than the sum of individual capabilities, if they know to work together. This ranges from things like positioning (it is not enough to force the evil wizard into close combat – you should also drive him towards allies or a choke point, not away from it – to more coplex coordination like setting up a chain of ability uses for maximal effect.

Question of Sevens

Painting has always been a means of escape; creating a landscape, a world, a being on canvas. Accolades have never meant a thing. This painting, though. .. this painting has been special and strange since it started….
